The primary purpose for the very existence of St. John’s Lutheran School in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, is to assist the parents in the spiritual upbringing of their children. What we believe we do best is two-fold. One is the spiritual education/training/guidance that we provide for our students. The other is academic. This second accomplishment is verified by the consistently outstanding performance of our students on standardized achievement tests. For example, in the 2006-07 school year, our students exceeded the national standards of the Iowa Basic Achievement Test by 2.28 years! In the 2007-08 school year, our students exceeded the national standards by 2.18 years. We test all of our students in grades 3-8. Again in the 2008-09 school year, the school-wide test results are more than 2 years about the national average. Our teachers’ love of learning, and their compassion for teaching inspire their students to do well in, as well as outside, the classroom.
